Alaska Cruise Ports Of Call

During your Alaska cruise you will be stopping at various ports of call. These ports of call will give you the chance to enjoy some shore excursions that you may find of interested. Which ports of call you stop at will be dependent upon which cruise line and what cruise type that you take. Most cruise lines will allow for a day of sightseeing and such at each port of call that they cruise stops at.

Anchorage has a lot of adventure to offer during your shore excursion. Full of Alaskan history Anchorage, has many places that will allow for you to learn of its history. Information on Alaskan culture can be obtained at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, were you can see traditional structures of native villages along with many informative exhibits. For those that are feeling adventurous and wanting to see the remote wilderness and Alaskan wildlife, then take a bear viewing tour. This tour will take you in a floatplane approximately 70 miles away from Anchorage to the Lake Clark Wilderness Preserve. From there you will go by boat with a guide through the area searching for bears.

Haines port of call will have you deep in native legends and folklores. Have a drink in one of the local bars and be spun a web of tales on ancient tribal legends. Haines is also a remarkable port of call during your Alaska cruise because it offers great dining and awe inspiring museums. You will come away with a wealth of ancient knowledge during your shore excursion in Haines.

Icy Strait Point is a port of call that only accommodates one ship at a time in its port. Icy Strait Point offers history lessons along with some extreme adventures that you can take part in during your shore excursion. Your history lesson can begin with learning of the Icy Straits Packing Company during the historical tour along with the Cannery Museum. As you continue with your history lesson learn of the Tlingit people who are native to the area. For those that want extreme adventure while in Icy Strait Point, then take part in the Grizzly Bear search about a 25-passenger bus that will take you through the Tongrass National Forest. If that wasn't enough you can take a flight out to Glacier Bay National Park and fly around sightseeing the beautiful glaciers. Fishing is also available upon a commercial fishing vessel for those that love to fish.

Juneau is the capital of Alaska and will be sure not to disappoint you during you Alaska cruise. Filled with fine dining, museums and everything you would expect from a big city and then some. For adventure take the shore excursion that put you in a helicopter that will fly you over the glacial landscape. When you land is when the fun really begins as you are taken on an amazing dogsled ride. White-water rafting is also at your fingertips to give you the thrill of a lifetime on your Alaska cruise vacation. While in Juneau take the time to see some of Alaska's magnificent whales on a whale watching tour.

Seward is one of the great ports that you will have the chance to see during your Alaska cruise vacation. Being one of the oldest cities inside of Alaska it has so much to offer visitors. While docked in Seward take the time to try out the fishing. A great fishing excursion will be yours complete with a native Alaskan captain that will dictate what you fish for. His knowledge will allow for you to catch great fish in one of the richest waters in Alaska. See the wonderful marine life on dayboat cruise in the Kenai Fjords National Park.
