Bermuda Golf Courses

Bermuda has one of the most amazing backdrop in the world when it comes to getting a few rounds of Bermuda golf. Walking on Bermuda golf courses on the eighteen holes amidst overlooking the waves breaking onto the white sand stretched beaches, and looking at the surrounding forest that line the edges of the fairways, is one of the spectacular things a golfer can savor.

There are both private and public Bermuda golf courses to choose from on the island. Private Bermuda golf courses will not allow tourists to enter without an introduction from a member, while public Bermuda golf courses will apparently be open to all tourists coming to the island to experience a wonderful golf game.

Calling ahead or emailing in advance to book reservations on the courses before arriving in the island is suggested to avoid hustles. A lot of the best Bermuda golf courses are very busy and hard to get a tea time on, especially during high seasons. Almost all of the clubs have professionals who are willing to give lessons and tips for those tourists who are just starting out and don't really know how to golf yet. Lessons can be one day lessons, or lessons that last for a week.

Some of the best eighteen-hole Bermuda golf courses include Belmont Golf and Country Club, Fairmont Southampton Golf Club, Port Royal golf Course, and St. George's Golf Club.

Belmont Golf and Country Club was designed by Scotsman Emmett Devereux and is a par-70, 5,282m course built in 1923. This golf course has been challenging golfers ever since, particularly on its eleventh hole which has a sever dogleg left with a blind tee shot, combine with trade winds that play havoc with the listed length. A lot of critics have claimed that the golf course is maddening yet they still continue to return to challenge the golf course again. This golf course also has a dense grass taking credit on modern irrigation.

Fairmont Southampton Golf Club is a par-54, 2454m course, with high tees, intentionally placed bunkers, and a wide range of water hazards to challenge even the most experienced golfer. This golf course needs more than just a great skill in playing but a certain mountaineering agility as well.

Port Royal Golf Course is a public course that ranks among the most excellent on the island, whether public or private. It is for a fact one of the greatest public golf courses in the world. This golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones which is a par-71, 6003m course along the ocean. The sixteenth hole is the most renowned in Bermuda, and photos of it appearing in numerous magazines. This hole is situated on the spectacular Oceanside cliff with breathtaking views, one wrong hit and the ball goes flying out into the ocean below.

St. George's Golf Club is one of the newest golf courses in the island and one of its best as well. The golf course is a par-62, 3697m course designed by Robert Trent Jones. The golf course is a walking distance from the historic town of St. George and lies on a windy headland at the northeastern tip of Bermuda. Panoramic scenes may be enjoyed but the game may likely be affected by Atlantic winds. The greens are no larger than 7.2m across and are the smallest on the island.

Bermuda golf courses is a combination of relaxation, fun, thrill, and challenge which will definitely satisfy every golfers need of dare.
