Cyprus Geography

Get familiarized with Cyprus geography and get a glimpse of the island

One of the countries located in the Southeastern part of the European continent is Cyprus.  Its deerskin shaped island is situated in the Northeastern corner of the Mediterranean sea.  It is one of the countries in Europe that's well endowed with beautiful natural resources, good climate, and pleasant people.  Because of Cyprus geography, one would surely enjoy a unique blend of nature, modernization, tradition, and people.

Cyprus geography will show us that it is indeed a melting point of some sorts, with Turkey at its North, Syria at the east, Lebanon in the southeast, and Egypt in the south.  Being surrounded by countries whose cultures and histories are quite rich on their own, it has somehow influenced Cyprus in more ways than one.

One of the reasons why the island is truly attractive and gifted with good climate, weather, and environment, is because of the Cyprus geography itself.  It only covers 3,572 miles of the European area with a great coastline of 486 miles.  This is the reason why it has one of the most happening sandy beaches of the world.  Apart from its waters, their landscape is best described as mountains and plains.  They have two great mountains, Troodos and Besparmak, which greatly reflects the beauty of its landscape extending to the seas.  Their plains especially their breadbasket, Mesaoria Plain covers extensively throughout the land, which provides the area for the production of the country's cereal crops: wheat, barley, and oats.

Another reason why tourists enjoy touring the country is that Cyprus geography offers so much thus feasting the eyes of anyone who wants to view it.  From its natural flora and fauna --- the valleys filled with anemones, bountiful blossoms during springtime, clean and natural sandy beaches, Green turtle-infested areas, and more.

What also contributes to the beauty of Cyprus geography is that the climate is unlike other European countries' cold and gray seasons.  In Cyprus, it's typically Mediterranean, with its warm and dry weather; and even if winter comes, it only has the mild and rainy weather, which is unlike the biting cold season of the other European countries.

Though being presented with Cyprus geography shows that it's relatively a small country, it is divided into two administrative groups.  Being separated by the "Green Line" that runs through Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, this island is divided into North and South Cyprus.  This division into two states is very significant because it has its own set of policies, religion, groups, etc.

In order to experience the beauty of Cyprus, it's better if you visit the place to have a firsthand feel.
