To give some details of those mentioned, here's a list of your "things to know in Cyprus".  If you can speak and understand English, then there's no problem communicating with the locals since this is their second language.  Their main languages are Greek and Turkish.  So as not to disrespect their practices, you have to know that the Greek Cypriots are Greek Orthodox Christians and this sect comprises more than 70% of the population, while the Turkish Cypriots are Muslims.  There are small groups who are practicing Maronite, Armenian, Apostolic, Latin, etc.  If you want to experience the little rainfall in Cyprus, you have to visit between November and March, because the rest of the year is mostly warm and dry wth only short spring and autumn seasons.  Although English sterling is highly accepted, it is still recommended to have your dollars or pounds or Euro converted into their official currencies, which is Turkish Lira in North Cyprus and Cyprus Pound in South Cyprus.  For those who'll be bringing vehicles upon entering, make sure that it's insured prior to arrival.  Cyprus follows the international traffic signs and the seatbelt policy, but you must also be careful if you're used to a right-hand driving, because their traffic flows on the left.  The country is two hours ahead of Greenwich Meridian Time (GMT) and seven hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST); and they also have their Daylight Saving Time (DST), which is going forward one hour in summer (officially starting at the last Sunday in March) and going back again in winter (officially at the last Sunday in October).
