Transportation

Choose which is the most convenient transportation you can avail of in Cyprus

Travel is one of the perks that people crave and enjoy.  It is in touring that one gets a feeling of being free with the environment, the people, and everything around it.  Visiting a new place, especially a new country for a vacation, means that you also have to think what you want to do there or what your itinerary is.  If you plan to just stay at a resort at one area, then transportation concerns wouldn't really be a problem, but for those who would to move around the city or country, you must at least have a plan and an idea of how transportation works in that region.  You wouldn't want to face a new place with no idea where you want to go and how to go about it, right?  Even if you're only backpacking or wandering around --- whatever life leads you or something --- you must still be aware of what to expect or where you're going.

In Cyprus, transportation may not be a problem but you have to at least know what transportation opportunities and facilities they have, and how these transportation facilities work around.  Cyprus, like most other countries have the usual services: bus, taxi, and car rentals.  Their buses somehow the same in most other places, however, you have to always check with your hotel or tourist information center for the bus schedules especially for long distances.  For village to town or city transfers, there are only limited trips available, so better if you check the schedule in advance; they usually have only one or two trips in a day.  For the common routes or tourist destination areas, there are frequent bus trips, which you can avail of.  For their taxi services, you have to be aware of where you are located, because rural taxis for example are usually found in taxi stands only.  At least inquire where the nearest taxi stand is, so that you'll know where to find a taxi for your next destination.  You can also check your hotel or the resort you're staying in, if they have hotel or private taxis available, so you can just make use of that service.  For urban taxis, they are found mostly outside big hotels, airports, taxi stands, bus stations, and other hotspot tourist area.  For car rentals, you may ask the hotel, resort, or tourist information center to arrange this for you if you don't have the car rental company's contact information.  It is better if you arrange this in advance so you wouldn't have a problem when you need to transfer.  Car rental would surely be the only mode of transportation you can avail when you're crossing the borders, since there's no public transportation, which can transfer passengers between North and South Cyprus.

It is important that you also know the rates of these public transportation.  Although, it is affordable compared to some other destinations, be aware of what you're dealing with so you're sure that you are paying appropriately for the service being rendered to you.
