London Dungeon

If you have been planning a grand getaway, the city London should be on top of your list. Why? You will not be disappointed with what the city has to offer since it is practically bursting at the seams with wonderful sights and attractions that continue to enthrall both tourists and locals. If you only have a couple of weeks to spare, then you need all the help you can get to ensure that you will get to visit all the highly recommended spots in London.

The most logical thing to do is to actually make a list, or an itinerary of sorts to simplify you agenda. When touring one of the oldest cities on the planet, you need to know all the tourist hot spots so you will not waste precious time running about and getting lost in the process. The list could go on and on. However, one of the highly recommended attractions would have to be the famous London Dungeon. If you have the penchant to some historical tours with a little creepy twist, then the London Dungeon can offer you all that and more.

Securely buried beneath the paved walk of Southwark, the London Dungeon continues to draw in a great number of tourists every single day. It brings back visitors to over more than 2,000 years of gruesome history, with vivid recreation of the grim and bloody past of the city. The London Dungeon is certainly not for the faint of heart and little children, mainly because the dark catacombs can be a little scary. The façade itself has a blood-splattered letters that offers an ominous warning ‘enter at your own peril' – word of caution that should not be taken too lightly.

There are over 40 exhibits inside the London Dungeon such as the Great Fire of London, Jack the Ripper, Torture Chamber and Judgment Day to name a few. In 2004, it also offered the Boat Ride to Hell and Labyrinth Maze of Mirrors that have become favorite attractions among tourists. There are some critics of the London Dungeon that claim that the city's history is cast in a very trivial light, a petty form of entertainment designed to reduce its actual value of the historical events that should have been given more significance. However, we cannot discount the fact that despite some ridicules, the London Dungeon continues to attract more tourists more than ever. Although it can be a bloodcurdling experience, it still offers an educational value, albeit in an unconventional and more exciting way.
