Cheap Mexico Vacation

When you're on vacation, it is to be expected that you're going to have fun. A lot of it. But how can you have the best kind of fun if you are inwardly wincing at entrée prices or sweating as you watch the cab fare meter numbers going up? Aren't you supposed to be relaxing and getting away from it all?

Fortunately for you, cheap Mexico vacations and fun are not mutually exclusive. You can enjoy both without worrying too much. Here's how:

Research Your Destination

Mexico is one big country. It is composed of 31 states and one federal district, plus no less than four coastlines. All in all you have one huge array of destination choices when planning a vacation to Mexico. And all of them have a different price range. What to do?

A little research goes a long way. Cheap Mexico vacation is not about buying the first deal that comes your way or traveling during peak seasons. Neither is it about sticking to one website that you've heard of and booking yourself a package. In fact, all these combined make up the complete opposite of a cheap Mexico vacation since they can cost you money - a lot of money.

Rather, what you should do is research - that is, find time to make price comparisons, read hotel reviews from former guests, and finally, consider where you can save some dough on flights and hotel rooms.

Saving on Food

One of the biggest expenses you'll be up against while on a cheap Mexico vacation is food. While it's true that dining out makes up part of the fun of being on vacation, it can take a huge chunk out of your travel budget. By not eating every meal out, you can actually save and get a real cheap Mexico vacation. All you need to know is where to find cheap food.

But how do you know where to go for cheap food when you're in a foreign country? Well, when it comes to best solutions, nothing beats the DIY approach. Good old homemade sandwiches for lunch can be filling. What's more, it only takes a few minutes of your time every morning.

Another option is to look for a hotel that serves a free buffet in the morning. It is not continental breakfast so it will probably cost you a few dollars more per night. However, if you're traveling with your family or with a group of your friends, the extra few dollars are well worth the cost of running out to a restaurant.

Having a good grasp of the local dialect comes in handy when looking for native cuisine. The people of the place usually know where everything is, like the local market for instance, so befriending one or two can be a great help. You can ask them for directions and they can help you choose which foods are good and easy to cook.

Of course, these are only some of the easy tricks to enjoy a cheap Mexico vacation. One thing you must remember is that vacations like these always have unexpected costs. So preparing for this kind of expenses is another way to ensure that your Mexico vacation remains cheap.
