What You Should Know About Norway Before You Go There

What You Should Know About Norway Before You Go There

Norway is located in the northern part of Europe. This country hails from a Scandinavian background. If you're looking to go there, there are some things you should know before you make that trip.

The country of Norway is actually called the "Kingdom of Norway". It is responsible for overseeing part of a mainland and attached island territories. The country of Norway is about 150,000 square miles and compared to New Mexico, Norway is a little larger than the American state.

Oslo is the capital of Norway and is the city that has the most people residing there. The population is a little over a half million people. There is also the city of Bergen, with about half of what Oslo has.

The cities of Trondheim and Stavanger have at least 150,000 and a little over 100,000 people living there, respectively. The total number of people that reside in the country of Norway is around a little over 4.5 million. You won't find much of a growth spurt here in Norway.

Norway is designed with plateaus that are tall in height. Within the background, you can also see mountains and valleys. If you go along the coast, the weather is somewhat bearable.
In addition to the beautiful views and background of the country, you will find that Norwegians are some of the most hospitable people around.

However, the more inland you are, the more cold weather you will endure. If you are in the far north region of Norway, you can get to endure long summer days full of hot weather. What's so interesting about this is that in the summer, it doesn't get dark until close to midnight.

People that are from the country of Norway are called Norwegians. Here in this country, you can find people here that are from different ethnic backgrounds. You will find a mixture of Alpine, Baltic and Nordic backgrounds here. You will find that not a lot of immigrants come to Norway to settle down and live.

There are two languages that are spoken here in Norway—Nynorsk Norwegian and Bokmål Norwegian. You will also find that people also speak the English language here. The English language is what is used in the local educational system. You may find among a few that speak Finnish and Sami dialects.

As far as religion goes, you will find that the Church of Norway is mostly what people practice as far as their faith is concerned. The Lutheran denomination is over the Church of Norway. Since the Lutheran denomination dominates Norway, you will find that other religions such as Roman Catholics, Muslim and Pentecostal Christian are basically here and there.

In the country of Norway, it boasts a perfect score for literacy. This may or may not be true; however, if it is less, it is not by much. The education here is practically "forced" upon them. Norwegians have a life expectancy of about 75 - 80 years.

Knowing some of these facts can help you on your trip to Norway. You will be in for a different experience.
