Spanish Government

Do you know of a country that seemingly has a very complicated ruling system? Located in the continent of Europe, it has been regarded very powerful even in the yesteryears because of the several conquered territories. The Spanish government as what is being referred, has a framework of a Constitutional-Democratic-Monarchy-Parliamentary-Representative system. The mere sound makes it all the more complex.

In the Spanish government, the king is the Head of State while the president is the Head of Administration. The administration has both executive and legislative authorities while two divisions in the parliament can only create laws. As for judiciary, the body is independent from the executive and legislative. If you take closer look, the organization has a similarity although with slight differences, with the Philippines whom Spain captured in the 1500's.

When you follow the trail of history in the Spanish government, it is needless to say that a lot of events took place. One was when Parliamentary-Democracy was revived after Francisco Franco, an officer who reigned since the last part of the civil war in 1939, passed away in 1975. Three years after, a new constitution was introduced where it heralded the country in Parliamentary-Monarchy. With the novel structure, the prime minister is nominated every four years in-charge to the Cortes General, the bicameral of Spain.

Another milestone in the Spanish government happened in October of 1982 when Felipe Gonzalez Marquez's Socialist Workers' Party dominated in the Congress and Senate. Marquez together with his colleagues were in control in the next thirteen years. In the period of their sovereignty, the country linked with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as well as with the European Community.

With a program of reforming the labor market and increasing the economic competition, People's Party led Jose Maria Aznar was the most voted in March of 1996. During the initial term of Aznar, the country was able to meet the criteria for the European Union's Monetary Unification. It was also at that instance where Spain participated in the military operations performed in the old Yugoslavia. They sent war planes against Serbia where troops from the armed forces were even sent to Bosnia and Kosovo for the international peacekeeping forces.

At present, Juan Carlos I is the Head of State and Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is the Head of Administration. Carlos was hailed as king two days after the death of Francisco Franco. Zapatero is under the Socialist Workers' Party where he is also the chairman.
