The High Sierra Camps in Yosemite is basically made up of five camping grounds, all of which form a loop around the Tuolumne Meadows. They lie deep in the wilderness and are only accessible either by walking or by horseback riding. All five camp grounds are about 5.7 to 10 miles far from each other or each distance is equivalent to a day's hike.

Guests at the High Sierra Camps in Yosemite are provided with dormitory-type accommodations inside canvass tent cabins, with beds, linens and blankets. Each of the five camps is uniquely set up to give its visitors a splendid view and a good deal of opportunity to explore the surrounding areas. Although large groups are usually housed together, sometimes, due to the surge of guests, splitting a group apart is necessary.

Restroom facilities and hot showers in the High Sierra Camps in Yosemite are provided for, although guests are required to bring their own towels and sleep sacks. However, these can be bought from the High Camp Stores or from the Tuolumne Meadows Store.

One of the High Sierra Camps in Yosemite is the Merced Lake. It is situated at a lower elevation along one of Yosemite's biggest lakes. The temperature there is slightly warmer and different types of vegetation can be seen. This camp houses 19 cabins that can be occupied by up to sixty guests. It can accommodate the most number of guests in the High Sierra Camps in Yosemite.

The Vogelsang is considered as most guests' favorite among the High Sierra Camps in Yosemite. It houses 12 cabins set amongst peaks, lakes, and meadows.

The Glen Aulin which means "beautiful valley" lives up to its name. With its eight cabins, guests of High Sierra Camps in Yosemite are taken on a breathtaking site of a waterfall and clear pool.

Another of the High Sierra Camps in Yosemite is the May Lake, which is the most accessible camp, requiring just a mile hike from the parking lot in the Tioga Road. Its eight cabins are perfect for families.

The Sunrise Camp of the High Sierra Camps in Yosemite is named for its splendid sunrise view. The nine cabins can provide guests with the incredible views.
