Upper Yosemite Falls 2

Under the Spell of the Upper Yosemite Falls

The very popular Yosemite Falls is the 5th tallest waterfalls in the world. It has awed thousands of visitors across the globe. It is one of the main tourist attractions of Yosemite and is one of the famous features inside the Yosemite National Park. The tall waterfall has two parts, namely, the Upper Yosemite Falls and the Lower Yosemite Falls. All in all, the Yosemite Falls measures 2425 ft in height and a very spectacular attraction spot. The first half of the falls which is the Upper Yosemite Falls has won the hearts of the visitors.

The Upper Yosemite Falls is located at Yosemite National Park, California. It measures 1430 ft with the Yosemite Creek as its watercourse. Its elevation measures 4000 ft. The falls can be admired at the road side of several viewpoints along the Southside Drive. The best locations where the falls can be viewed include the Cook's Meadow and Swinging Bridge. It can be viewed also while having a trail down the Lower Yosemite Falls. The waterfall is visible also upon viewing it from up and down the Yosemite Valley.

Upper Yosemite Falls is very pleasing to the eyes and can be viewed anytime of the year. But for an overwhelming view, the tourists pay a visit at springtime when the snow just melted and the water flow tends to have a stronger current. As compared at summertime when the water dries up and the water flow decreased to nearly nothing.

It is one of the world's most scenic climbing spots and it gives challenges to people who dare to explore its trail. It requires enough strength and determination to climb the top surface of the Upper Yosemite Falls. Usually, it takes an exhausting 3 hour hike to reach the top of the falls. From there however, all the hardships undergone during the trail is met by the contentment one feels upon achieving the climb. Looking down, there are many breathtaking views that can be seen atop the Upper Yosemite Falls. Staying up, the tourists can take a dip in the Yosemite Creek but it is advised not to take a plunge at spring season when the water is flowing too fast.

Hiking with almost a distance of 7 miles to reach the top of the Upper Yosemite Falls may seem a tiring activity for the hikers but once the top is reached, it is very worth the effort and energy. It gives the feeling of contentment realizing that one has achieved a risky and very challenging activity.
