It's Time to Climb- Yosemite Climbing

Climbing is an activity suited for persons who live by challenges and love the taste of risks. It demands high endurance against exhaustion and a healthy physique. Climbing has now been considered a sport in fact, competitions are held for rock-climbers and wall-climbers. In Yosemite, climbing is very popular. Sport-minded tourists and athletes pack up their climbing gears and take tough expeditions on the rocks and cliffs that stand high and mighty in the place.

Every climber who reaches the place of Yosemite couldn't resist performing an exhibition and climbing the elevated areas. The feeling of being able to reach at the top is very fulfilling that Yosemite climbing continues to attract more climbers. Climbs are being taken on the walls of the Merced River Canyon and also at the big walls of the valley. Yosemite climbing requires style and technique for a successful and less difficult climb. Only a few handholds are present in glacier-surfaced rock and the climber's feet steps on nothing that's why the need for a balancing technique is emphasized.

Traditional climbing is mostly the method used in Yosemite. As described, traditional climbing involves climbing on cracks and placing the gear. It is advised however that Yosemite must not be the place for practicing and learning the method of traditional climbing since the Yosemite crack technique is rather difficult to learn. One must be ready and geared up before demonstrating the climb.

It is during the seasons of spring and fall that Yosemite Climbing is best done. Temperature is one factor that affects the climb. Climbing at summer can be very hot and sweaty resulting into discomfort. The month of November when it's dry is a favorite time of the year to climb since the weather is perfect and there are fewer crowds.

There are however disadvantages that have occurred. Because of the mania of the people to experience Yosemite Climbing, tourists have increased to visit the place. Negative results have sprouted and these include soil erosion and compaction, loss of vegetation in parking areas and at the base of the climbs and also the ruining of the cliff side plants.

To ensure more safety, recent closures and prohibition to climb in the areas are made. Due to current rock fall on the Glacier Point Apron, it is now considered a restricted area for climbing. Near locations of the Peregrine Falcon Nest are also restricted areas.

It is important to be extra careful in taking the climb. Risks are always involved and accidents can't be avoided. Yosemite climbing can be very dangerous but the feeling of achieving a successful climb erases all fears.
