The park is also a habitat for plants and animals. About 89% of the park is chosen as wilderness area with plants, trees and species of wild insects.

Popular features of the Yosemite National Park are the El Capitan, a cliff for rock-climbing and popular domes like Half Dome and Sentinal Domes for exploration. Natural highlights of the park also include the very famous Yosemite Valley with its waterfalls and cliffs, the Glacier point which takes tourists for an overlooking view of the Valley, the Mariposa Grove which is over-pouring of giant old sequoias and the Tuolumne Meadows that is surrounded with outstanding mountain peaks. It takes a 4.5 hour drive from San Francisco and a 6 hour drive from Los Angeles to visit the park.

Activities that tourists undertake in the Yosemite National Park include hiking, climbing, rock-climbing and just making a tour around the park with a train, a bus or a van. Hotels and other forms of lodging are available inside or beside the Yosemite National Park for tourists who want to have an overnight stay, long trips and extended vacations. The park is open for visitors year-round. Each year, there are approximately 4 million visitors who come to Yosemite and drive through the doors of the park to have a look on the beauty that surrounds it. The Yosemite National Park experience a Mediterranean Climate. During mild winter, precipitation occurs and other seasons like spring and autumn are nearly dry.
