Yosemite Waterfalls 2

Yosemite Waterfalls

The Yosemite National Park is synonymous to Waterfalls. Tourists are actually drawn to Yosemite to see its collection of breathtaking waterfalls. Of course, the scenic beauty of the Yosemite National Park is highlighted by its cliffs, and lush greens. But even if you take out all of these, Yosemite will still exist in its full grandeur because of its splendid waterfalls.

Yosemite Waterfalls wouldn't be complete without the Yosemite Falls. It is the highest one measured in the country and is also the fifth tallest in the world. The Yosemite Falls is divided into two parts, the Upper Yosemite Fall and the Lower Yosemite Fall. The base from the lower part to the top of the upper one, comprise its total drop of 2425 feet. The Upper Fall has a 1430-foot drop which earned it a spot in the twenty highest in the world. The Lower Fall has a 320-foot plunge and has an adjacent popular viewing area for tourists.

Another of the Yosemite Waterfalls is the Ribbon Fall. It majestically stands 1,612 feet and flows from a cliff beside the El Capitan. This is considered as the highest single-drop waterfall in all of North America. It is fed by rainwater, as well as melted snow, which explains why it is dry for most of the year.

The Bridalveil Fall is another famous Yosemite Waterfalls. This 620-foot falls flows all year, although its volume decreases in the later part of the summer season. It sprays mist that resembles a bridal veil, hence the moniker. This easily-accessible falls makes it a popular photograph subject.

A part of the Yosemite Waterfalls collection is the Vernal Fall which has a height of 370 feet. Even if this is not as accessible as the Bridalveil Fall and the Yosemite Falls, this is still popular due to the fact that water rushes all-year-round. The misty-spray of the falling water drenches the nearby areas.

The Nevada Fall is one of the rather isolated Yosemite waterfalls. A deep pool is on top of this 594-feet waterfall. It has gained the reputation for taking guests over the falls with its strong currents. Despite the fence and the posted warnings, most visitors still can't resist taking a dip in the pool.

The Illilouette Fall is the not-so-famous from among the major Yosemite waterfalls mainly. This is mainly because it cannot be seen from any road. Those who want to see this fall have to do it from a far area. The Panorama Trail descending down from Glacier Point provides the greatest view.

All the Yosemite waterfalls, whether major or the less popular ones, are what beckon most tourists. Each one is uniquely captivating, proudly embracing varied characteristics that never fail to astound.
