Yosemite Weather

The weather in Yosemite is usually predictable, but that varies from that of the summer, fall, winter and spring. And since the weather can largely affect your vacation to Yosemite, it is important to know then how Yosemite seemed like during these four seasons.

In summer, the Yosemite weather is pretty fine. This season starts from June through September, and with the weather being accommodating and predictable, there are a lot of chances for you to see almost all of the wonders in the Yosemite National Park. All of the areas in the park are also accessible by car during the summer. So if you are visiting Yosemite with your own car, then you drive through the park any time you want to.

The Yosemite weather during the summer ranges from warm to hot. Rain pours occasionally, usually at higher elevations where an afternoon thunderstorm occurs. If you happen to be staying in the Yosemite Valley, then note that the Yosemite weather in these areas may reach to 87 degree Fahrenheit to 51 degree Fahrenheit. With this average, most of the water that flows in Yosemite comes from the snowmelt in the high country. All of the great waterfalls in the area also run swiftly, but they can be very low by late summer.

If you will be visiting in fall, note that the Yosemite weather can be quite variable. The weather may range from hot to cold and from dry to rainy or snowy. In Wawona and Yosemite Valley areas, the Yosemite weather may hit 54 degrees Fahrenheit to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. So in this case, you still have the chance to view all of the Yosemite National Park, but the people you may see at the park are only few. Note that the fall in Yosemite runs from October to November.

During the wintertime, which runs from December to March, the Yosemite weather is identified by being snowy and cold. However, sunny and chilly days may appear, but not so common. If you are staying in the Yosemite Valley or in Wawona, you may notice the Yosemite weather to be hitting the average degree of about 53 degrees Fahrenheit to about 28 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, during this season, the Tioga Road is closed although the Yosemite Valley and Wawona are still accessible by car. So once the Tioga Road is closed, the vehicles are not then allowed to enter between the Crane Flat and Tioga Pass, as well as in the Tuolumne Meadows. This is also true in the Glacier Point. So if you are visiting in wintertime, expect to have a limited access to Yosemite's wonderful sites.

Finally, in spring, the Yosemite weather is also highly variable. The area is often visited by sunny and relatively warm days, but there is also occasional winter storm. Also, the Yosemite weather may reach from 69 degrees Fahrenheit up to 39 degrees Fahrenheit. Well, during this season, the Yosemite Valley and Wawona are accessible by car; however, Glacier and Tioga areas are closed due to snow until late of May. The spring in Yosemite actually starts from April and ends in May.
